Wilma Scott
Wilma is a singer in Jamming Codgers with a three octave range from tenor to soprano. She also plays guitar and percussion.
From the age of 9 or 10 Wilma has sung in classical choirs, performing at the Greenock Music Festival in Scotland in her teens and in Chorus UK in Sheffield in her 50s. Also in her youth Wilma learned piano, trumpet and violin.
Wilma started performing solo when she was seventeen, singing the folk songs and Bob Dylan and Joan Baez, accompanying herself on the guitar. She was living in Paisley at the time and performed there and in Glasgow.
In her twenties Wilma was the vocalist in Edentree, a trio which played Jazz and Blues in a variety of venues in and around London. She was with them for three years until her move to Sheffield. In her 30s and 40s she was the vocalist in Scotfree for 5 years. This was initially a trio which played Blues and contemporary songs, playing venues such as the Boardwalk and the Deepend. In her 50s/60s she was a vocalist with Redback, singing Soul, R&B and vintage rock and popular songs.
